![]() Flex combines the best of both worlds, the security of a hard locking cover and convenience of a soft roll up cover. They both have their advantages and disadvantages ya know.Introducing the next generation of folding covers - the UnderCover Flex folding cover. ![]() I think A gives you better volume, will be a little easier on the pocket, but will require slight modificationī wont give you quite the volume, a little more expensive due to the components, but will have better high frequency separation due to the passive crossovers and the fact tweeters are designed for that specifically, and will have little to no modification to the truck. 2 channel amp bridged for center and using the tweeters from the front door component set up for the side dash location. 4 channel amp with 1&2 going to the side 3 1/2s and 3&4 bridged for the center and a 2 way speaker in the front doorī. I feel like theres two perfectly acceptable scenarios for the dash.Ī. If you can get an amp with good variable crossover settings, you could set it to whatever cut off frequency you would for those side 3 1/2's. You could also put the tweeters in the side dash location, that would give it a complete stealth look. ![]() I do like the tweeter sound too, and even if I went -3db, there will still be plenty. Yea, thats why I said theres different routes to go up front. Lift kit goes on Friday, then I'm going to start putting this together. I may even clip the tweeter wires and move my 651s back there. They sound like crap so any upgrade back there will probably do wonders. I definitely want to replace the stock speakers back there. I agree so I may go cheaper than the ID's back there. I have tweeters in the rear doors and I've been reading that the rear only gives fill and doesn't do much for the front. If that provides enough high end sound, I can go with the coax in the doors. I definitely want to replace them with something better though. Like you said in another post, it's like 80/20. I was really surprised at how much sound the dash speakers provide. I had the JBL system with the tweets in the sails on my previous CM and it sounded pretty good. I like that nice clean sound good tweets give. What I'm finding with the non-JBL system with no tweets up front is the sub and the mids over power the highs. Image Dynamics makes a really good 6.5 coax as well. I'll investigate the 445U more as well.įor the front doors, I really like the image dynamics components but what I may do is get the dash done then make a decision on components or a 2 way up front. I'm thinking like you though, I may be able to adjust the crossovers and gain to get the sound I want with a larger amp. I would like to find a good, low power 3 channel amp. That equates to a bad ass everyday sound system haha. I do like the idea of a 3 channel amp for the dash, a 4 channel amp for the doors, and then something for the sub's. I think my setup is producing a little too much high's up front, but some may think it sounds good. But its also gonna depend on how you like it to sound. So if you are running a "normal" single 12 or dual 12 set up, maybe it is a tad bit over the top. I guess that depends on your subwoofer set up ya know? When you see dudes with serious bass, you usually see them with a custom door panel with 4 or 5 mids in there to compensate for all that bass. I cant say whether running 3 dash speakers plus a full component set up in the door is too much. And just like you, I am thinking well why shouldn't it be? I agree, but why do some amps list them as 3 channel capable but some dont if they ALL are capable.Īs an example, the Alpine MRP-F300 in its description is listed as 3 channel capable. The only thing you will wanna make sure of is if the 445U is 3 channel capable, I cant find anything stating it is. So ill get a 150x1 amplifier, turn the gain down a little bit, and we should be good! But thats ok, because 3 1/2 " speakers arent meant to handle more than 25-35watts rms. Now when you wire that to an amplifier, your power output will be a little less. If I wire two in parallel, thats a 2 ohm load, then wire that in series with the other speaker, for a 6 ohm load. Sooooo, we will probably have three 4 ohm speakers. So the issue is, they dont make a lot of aftermarket 8 ohm car speakers, and they definitely dont make a lot of dual 8 ohm aftermarket 3 1/2's haha. so they did that with both side dash speakers. So when you wire two 8 ohm speakers in parallel, you get a 4 ohm load. The way its wired and designed is pretty slick and makes it a little different per say to design and install.īasically, the reason the center speaker has a dual voice coil is because its actually wired in parallel to each other dash speaker.
